Busy December for BIU Band

The famous Broken Hill Industrial Union (BIU) band has been busy lately with a jam-packed December program.

On Saturday December 3 they played at the completion of the annual Toy Run out at Harold Williams Home and had another performance at Aruma Lodge five days later, on Thursday December 8.

With less than favourable weather conditions – it was very hot, and windy too – the band played at Carols by Candlelight in the open air at Sturt Park last Sunday (December 11), with the gusting hot winds challenging the musicians to also keep the music on the stands.

There is still more to come before they can take a well-earned break over Christmas – on Thursday in the Town Square, they performed a Christmas Concert.

A spokesperson for the band said they were grateful to the City Council for making the town square available so they could provide Broken Hill residents another piece of Christmas cheer.

Then to round off the year, today – Saturday – it’s out to Kmart at 10am for the Salvation Army’s Christmas Appeal.
