Broken Hill Rocks now on sale

Broken Hill Book Company’s latest release, Broken Hill Rocks, is set to go on sale this weekend.

The book highlights the unique golden era sound of Broken Hill rock bands throughout the 1960s and ‘70s, as collated by Marmalades’ band member Mark Kersten.

“What we have now is a very good record of bands of that era,” Mr Kersten told the Truth. “And now it’s published, it’s there forever. Not only is it a fun book, but it’s also a historical document.”

Mr Kersten paid tribute to Robert Williamson, the man behind Broken Hill Book Company, for making it possible for the book to be published.

“It never would have happened without Robert Williamson. He contacted me when I first floated the idea and said he’d like to come on board and help me make it happen,” Mr Kersten said.

Mr Williamson added, “when I heard about the project, I was quite happy to help sort it out and get it into print. It is important these stories don’t die. We need them documented like this so they aren’t forgotten.”

The cover of the book is adorned with iconic John Dynon art and has been designed and collated by local Meghan Brimstone.

Mark will be signing books in the town square on Saturday, and at the Bash Fringe Markets on Sunday on Eyre St.
