Dog owners from Broken Hill All Breeds Obedience Club have held a weekend of Obedience and Rally Trials judged by Neil MacDonald from South Australia.
The Saturday Obedience trial began with the Utility section in which there were no passes.
In the Open Section, Peggy Stewart and her Rottweiler R.CH Westobri Carlotta CDX RAE TK.A took first place and the Highest Qualifying Score, followed by Megan Algate and Drax CD RE TKS HTM.S FFS JC in second place.
There were no passes in the Novice Section or Community Companion Dog.
Peggy Stewart and Carlotta were the only successful team in the Masters’ section of the Rally Trial.
The Rally Excellent section was won by Megan Algate and Drax, with Tanya Martyn and her Golden Retriever Baradav Kindred Spirit (AI) CCD RE TKS (Kensi) in second place, and Laura Pinnuck and Staffordshire Bull Terrier Mustabooblue Luna RE TKS in third place.
The Rally Advance section was the most successful of the day, with Laura Pinnuck and Luna in first place, followed by Megan Algate and Drax, with Tanya Martyn and Kensi in third.
Passes were also gained by Jenny Walters and her Logotto Romagnolo Duoforza Quinto RN (Tully), who also got their Rally Advance Title, and Debbie Olds with her Border Collie Roy.
The final Rally Trial section, Rally Novice, saw first place going to Cathy Taylor and Gerda, followed by Melissa Williams and Belgian Shepherd Dog Malinois Vonpraxx Ixora (Skye), with Donna Harvey and Tibetan Terrier Cross, Fletcher in third Place, qualifying for their Title.
Following the Trials, a social evening at a local Club was held.
The weather was much better on the Sunday and while there were no passes in the Utility Section, the open section was won by Peggy Stewart and Carlotta, who also gained the highest Qualifying Score for the day.
There were no passes in the Novice Section, but in the Community Companion Dog section, Tanya Martyn and Golden Retriever Sundora Skyes The Limit RN took first place.
The Rally Trial bgan with Rally Masters, won by Megan Algate and Drax, followed by Peggy Stewart and Carlotta in second.
Megan and Drax also took out first place in Rally Excellent, with Tanya Martyn and Kensi second, Laura Pinnuck and Belleden Here Comes The Sun RA SWN (Apollo) third, with a pass also going to Laura and Luna.
Rally Advance saw another win for Megan Algate and Drax, with Laura Pinnuck and Luna second, and Debbie Olds and Roy in third place.
The final section for the afternoon and the weekend was Rally Novice, won by Cathy Taylor and Gerda, followed by Charlotte Panton and Hunter, who gained their Title.
Third place went to Melissa Williams and Skye, with Megan Algate and Spieldack I Need A Dollar (Cash) also achieving a pass.
As with all sports and recreation, much is done by a small band of volunteers, and the Club thanked each one who contributed to the success of the weekend.
Mr MacDonald thanked the Club for his appointment to judge the trial, adding he and his wife thoroughly enjoyed their weekend in Broken Hill.
The judge was presented with a print by one of our Broken Hill artists as a memento of his visit.
The next trial weekend is the club’s Anniversary Trial at the beginning of September, so the Trialing class is preparing for this, as well as travelling to compete at interstate trials.
