Greyhound racing will again light up the track today, with eight races to be run and won before a short break in the season. Trainer Wade Hipwell has brought several proven greyhounds to town and will once again be one to watch today.
Race 1 – The Workies Club Maiden
Little Miss Ella returns to the track today, trained by Donna Gaiter, after a short lay off with injury. Drawn in the box one, she will be hard to beat. Taz’s Classified, trained by Darren Pollard, and Nip Of Silver, trained by Troy Roberts, are both still chasing their first wins, and are likely to fill the placings behind Little Miss Ella.
Race 2 – Broken Hill GAP 525m
Zipping Muriel, trained by Wade Hipwell, is coming off a last start win in Adelaide and will be hard to beat after coming up with box two. She will find the fence early and be too strong. Downed By Law, trained by Tegan Gray, has the motor to match it with Zipping Muriel but he hasn’t shown his potential yet since arriving in town. Zipping Lyris, also trained by Wade Hipwell, should find a placing in its first start on the local track.
Race 3 – Far West Rural Supplies FFA
King Cunnington was a big winner last start, trained by Wade Hipwell, and if he can put up the same performance he will be too good for this field. My Last Babe, trained by Darren Pollard, will be the main danger for King Cunnington, after drawing box one where she will be one to watch. West On Indigo, also trained by Darren, was a last start winner and will be thereabouts at the end.
Race 4 – Broken Hill Sturt Club 3/4
Rare Space, trained by Max Gray, has been in good form since she returned to racing. Drawn in box two today she will find the fence and should go on for a good win. Her danger is kennel mate Iceni Juda, trained by Tegan Gray, and if he jumps, Rare Space will have a task ahead of her. Aston Mcenroe, trained by Wade Hipwell, was a good winner last start at his first look at the track, and he will likely figure in the placings.
Race 5 – Warburton’s Butchers Grade 5
Sweet Pea, trained by Kaylene Hatzi, had her colours lowered last start, but she has drawn box one today and will be hard to beat from that draw. Ordelia Bale, trained by Leigh Drganc, has had two seconds to its name since arriving in town and is drawn wide today but could find a placing. Shaye Jay, trained by Lorraine Robertson, will be the main danger to the other two greyhounds. He will be hitting the line hard at the end of the race.
Race 6 – Mystic Jazz, trained by Ben Carswell, was a good winner last start and he’s drawn wide in box six but his box manners should see him find the lead where he will be hard to run down. Tyson’s Choice, trained by Lorraine Robertson, is getting on in age, but he is a master of box one so he is in with a big chance to win. Whiskey Roll, trained by Don Turner, to fill the placings.
Race 7 – GRNSW Appreciation Grade 5
Miss Cara Black won her first race for trainer Ben Carswell last start and looks to make it back-to-back wins today in a very even and hard field to pick a winner. Shake It Up, trained by Donna Gaiter, has had a win and a second in its last two starts and could be the one to watch. Yellowhammer was a good second for trainer Graham Whitford, he will also be hard to beat and should figure in the placings.
Race 8 – Follow Us On Facebook Grade 5
Mia River, trained by Troy Roberts, was a good winner last start here but finished down the track at Gawler through the week. She could be hard to beat from Smug Doug who has the fastest winning time in the race and is trained by Robert Dannatt. He will be hard to beat if he keeps his mind on the job. Iceni Arashi, trained by Tegan Gray, will be leading the pack and could hold on for a place.
