Fred Jobson immortalised

SOUTH Community Centre was officially renamed the Fred Jobson South Community Centre on Saturday by Broken Hill City Council Mayor, Tom Kennedy, joined by Patton/South Village Association members and guests for the official unveiling.

It was standing room only on Saturday night at the newly named Fred Jobson South Community Centre on the corner of Patton and Comstock streets in the south of the Silver City, with a very special performance by Community Voices and Village Strummers dedicated to the namesake, iconic artisan and musician, Aubrey Frederick Jobson.

Don Mudie was delighted by the event and told the Barrier Truth that he’s thrilled by the renaming of the centre.

“I’ve been campaigning to rename something after Mr Jobson for many years so that this unique character is known by future generations. It’s a very special day that not only honours a wonderful man, but also highlights the importance of creativity and community connection,” said Mr Mudie.
