In an event marked with joy and pride, nine individuals from diverse corners of the globe were officially recognized as Australian citizens on Monday, in a ceremony hosted by the Broken Hill City Art Gallery. The newly minted Australians hail from countries as varied as France, Sweden, Peru, the UK, Eritrea, Egypt, China, and the Philippines, reflecting the multicultural tapestry that is modern Australia.
Sebastien Jason Anflous, Ebba Karin Fredrika Berg, Monica Angela Del Aguila Ruiz, Paul Lumb, Zaid Teferi Mael, Milad Fathy Hanna Sawires, Yi Yao, Juliet Bambalam, and Leizel Mae De La Cruz were all warmly welcomed into their new Australian identity by Mayor Tom Kennedy of the Broken Hill City Council.
This ceremony is the latest in a long-standing tradition that dates to 1949. Since then, an astounding 4.5 million individuals have chosen to become part of the Australian story, embracing their newfound citizenship with enthusiasm and pride. We at the Barrier Truth are delighted to extend our heartfelt congratulations and warmest welcome to the nine individuals who proudly chose to call Australia home yesterday.
