Broken Hill Basketball Association is Back

After a long absence, the Broken Hill Basketball Association season is back!

This year, both the men’s and women’s senior competitions will have a slightly different feel as the Broken Hill Basketball league falls into line with South Australia Country Basketball guidelines.

That means no more A, B and C grade. In place of that is a tiered division system. That means there will be three six-team divisions in the Men’s senior competition and two Women’s divisions.

In the Men’s division one there is a familiar name. The North Bulldogs have a side captained by Shane Dalby. Other sides in Division One include The Ramjets, The Outlaws, The Sumtin Boys, The Raptors, and FON.

As you get lower down the divisions, the names get a little more interesting. Division Two’s Swoop ‘n’ Hoops stands out, as does Division Threes Goon Squad.

Over in the Women’s top division, the South have their own team, captained by Jordynn Arnold. Other sides in the women’s topflight include a Broncos Under-18 side, along with The Suns, The Red ‘n’ Blacks and the Fiorelli Bulls.

Committing to the gimmick of highlighting a lower division team with an interesting name, Women’s Division Two side the Aquaholics springs out as an interesting one!

The Barrier Truth will be providing comprehensive coverage of this coming season’s senior leagues, whilst also covering the representative side – Broken Hill Broncos – when rep season comes around.

Head down to the Bob Sanderson Basketball Stadium from October through to March and catch the best hoops Broken Hill has to offer.
