Late Night Assaults

After a late-night incident on Saturday night in Broken Hill, a civilian employee faces charges related to an alleged assault.

Local police responded to an emergency call at approximately 1am on Saturday, September 16, directing them to a business where an altercation had reportedly taken place.

Upon arrival, authorities from the Barrier Police District discovered a 38-year-old man with visible facial injuries. On-site medical attention was promptly provided by paramedics.

After conducting an initial investigation, a 34-year-old man was apprehended and escorted to the Broken Hill Police Station. There, he was formally charged with common assault.

The accused, who was off duty during the incident, is a civilian staffer in the Western Region. He has been granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear before the Broken Hill Local Court on November 14.

The accused’s employment status is currently under review pending further investigation.

The Barrier Truth obtained footage of another incident on the same Saturday night, where two men were allegedly assaulted with a baseball bat following a dispute between neighbours at a birthday party.

A 22-year-old male was subsequently taken to hospital and received stitches for his injuries.
