The Broken Hill community is on edge after a body was found deceased yesterday afternoon.
Officers attached to Broken Hill Police District responded to a property on Burke Street at about 1:20pm, following reports a man’s body had been located.
Around midday, several police vehicles were seen rushing down Blende St towards the vicinity in railway town.
A crime scene was established, as investigations into what transpired began.
Local police set up a barricade around the scene outside a home a few doors down from the closed Hillside Hotel.
The Burke Street entrance was blocked off to the public, as officers stood on the edges of the police tapes and guarded the body.
Onlookers gathered, while nearby streets saw a flurry of vehicles passed by about 15 minutes after authorities responded.
The news of the incident quickly spread around town causing panic and confusion as to what occurred.
Barrier Truth contacted the Broken Hill Police station in the late afternoon, but no further information was available.
