BHNA celebrates the season with winter Grand Finals

Broken Hill Netball Association (BHNA) marked the end of the 2023 winter season at Tuesday night’s Grand Finals, with deciders from Under-12s to A-Grade all played in high, competitive spirits.

In the junior grades, the 11 & Under competition saw St Joes Giants victorious against Netball Ninjas, 16-10, West Flames Red beating St Joes Pink in an 34-33 extra-time thriller in the 14 & Under age group, and West Flames Silver prevail 31-27 over Blue Storm in the 17 & Under match-up.

Following a presentation to commemorate the season’s achievements of the junior grades, where Tahlia Millard of Netball Ninjas (11s), Zoe Jeffery from Mini Macs (14s), Charlotte Turley of Girls of Glory (17s) won MVP awards, the senior A and B Grade fixtures kicked off.

In the B-Grade, it was a top-of-the-table decider, eventually falling the way of CF Wags who were dominant against Divas, winning 45-18. In the A-Grade Grand Final, the two top teams of the season went at it also, though it was second-placed Westside who got the job done over Jesters, 42-32.

In the presentation to acknowledge the senior grade’s seasons, the A-Grade MVP was awarded to Chelise Jones from CF Wags, while West Flames Black’s Shante King won the B-Grade MVP.

“It’s really good to wrap up the season on such a positive note, obviously now under the understanding that we will be able to squeeze in a second (summer) season with the redevelopment timeline,” BHNA President, Tori McManus, told the Truth.

“Very excited to come back to netball, but also very excited to have this break as well. It’s been a big season and lots and lots of players have just given us so much positive feedback that I can’t wait for the next season.”
