Teaming up for new goals

Broken Hill Community Credit Union (BHCCU) has continued its partnership with the town’s Junior Soccer Association by funding new portable goals for the junior league playing the round ball game in the Silver City.

BHCCU Community Engagement Supervisor, Kristy Ryan, was at O’Neill memorial Park with Bumble, the credit union’s mascot, to check out the goals, with Bumble attempting to save a couple of shots from some of the JSA’s youngest stars.

“We were approached by the soccer association who were fundraising at the time because they were just in desperate need of an upgrade, Ms Ryan told the Truth.

“We understand how hard volunteers work in the community and how much of an effort fundraising can be. So, we wanted to show our support and cover the cost.”

“Having this sponsorship from the credit union is amazing,” BHJSA President Anita Hoysted told us. “We’ve managed to purchase a pair of goals for the juniors. It is incredible, particularly with the nets, now we can see when the goals go through.

“We desperately needed the upgrade. The BHJSA is delighted BHCCU decided to come on board and help,” Ms Hoysted added.

The goals were put to immediate use.

“As soon as they were assembled, we were straight into using them.”
