Be Gentle on Yourself will feature country singer Melinda Schneider

By Stuart Kavanagh

You could be forgiven for thinking after the Mundi Mundi Bash, Broken Hill had reached its quota of Aussie music legends for 2022.

Well, it turns out that is not the case – the Silver City is set to be graced by country music royalty when Melinda Schneider arrives this coming October.

We had the opportunity to have a chat with Melinda as she prepares to visit Broken Hill, a city already somewhat familiar to her.

“I performed at a country music festival there years ago,” she tells us.

But while she will be singing several of her best known songs when she is here, that’s not the only reason she’ll be in town.

Melinda will be the keynote speaker for the Be Gentle on Yourself wellbeing seminar at the Musicians Club on October 7 where she’ll be discussing her own mental health struggles, and even performing a few of her most healing songs about self-acceptance.

The country music star is passionate about people in remote areas, particularly women seeking help if they are suffering from mental health issues.

She is determined to assist in breaking through the negative stigma around depression that still exists in some places today.

“I have had two bouts of depression myself,” she says. “I had to learn how to be gentle on myself. ”

Once she unlocked the secrets of how to achieve this, she became unwavering in her efforts to spread the word.

The seminar, staged by the Rural Advisory Mental Health Program (RAMHP), will give attendees the opportunity to engage with RAMHP co-ordinators about wellbeing and self-care, whilst teaching you how to Be Gentle on Yourself.

Alongside the opportunity to connect with others, there will also be a Q&A session at the end of the session.

Outside of her sensational efforts to help people in rural areas deal with their mental health issues, Melinda is keeping busy.

She has a jam packed back half of 2022, including a wedding to “the love of my life, Mark Gable”. As she finishes off her Love Songs tour, Melinda is also working on a new album.

“I am about halfway through the new album. It should be out sometime next year.”

That will be huge news for fans of Schneider, who hasn’t released an album with original music for over 10 years.

The ‘Be Gentle on Yourself’ wellbeing session is free to attend, bookings are essential, however. Book your opportunity to engage in in-depth discussion about self-care and healing with a country music star, right here.
