When the Barrier District Cricket League (BDCL) umpires step out onto the field for the 2023/24 season, they’ll be wearing new shirts, adorned with a new sponsor: the Demo Club.
BDCL Umpires Coordinator, Bill Bergman, approached Demo Club Operations Manager Chris Nyman months out from the season starting to enquire about sponsorship, telling us they “jumped on board straight away”.
“We got the shirts made up and the reason I’m presenting them a shirt is so they can have hang it up in the Demo in their window frame when you walk in. It’s just more or less a thank you and a recognition of their sponsorship for this upcoming season,” Mr Bergman told us.
“I think overall, like any sort of sports, it just gives you a bit of an identity. Last year we had yellow golden shirts and this year we’ve just got a different colour, and a different look. It’s an identity, and it’s just an appreciation that the Demo has come on board for this season.”
Chris Nyman, Demo Club Operations Manager added, “We are delighted to contribute to sports, it is such a big part of the community and we very pleased we could help. The matches can’t happen without the umpires.”
