All Breeds Dog Club turns 60 with Obedience

The Broken Hill All Breeds Obedience Dog Club has at long last been able to hold its 60th Anniversary Trials at AJ Keast Park this past weekend, though the Club actually turned 60 in 2021, Covid having interrupted the celebrations.

Judging the trials was Neil MacDonald from South Australia and Saturday morning saw the day start with the Obedience section and no passes in Utility Dog Excellent, Utility Dog, or Open.
In the Novice Section, Mrs K Rath was first with her dog, Mysql Margarita CCD RA, who also gained the highest qualifying score. Second in Novice was Megan Enright with Drax CCD RA TKS JC.

There were also two passes in the Community Companion Dog Section. In first place were Mrs Debbie Olds and Roy RN, followed by Heidi Marshall and Panderess RN.

After lunch, the Rally Trial was held with no passes in Rally Masters. The Rally Excellent section was more successful with Mrs P Stewart and Westobri Ima Carlotta CD RAE TKA first, Megan Enright and Drax CCD RA TKS JC in second place, with Mrs K Rath and Mysql Margarita CCD RA coming third.

Results for Rally Advance were – First , Megan Enright and Drax CCD RA TKS JC – Second, Mrs P Stewart with Westobri Ima Carlotta CD RAE TKA – Third Laura Pinnuck with Mustabooblue Lunaa RN, and third and a pass for Mrs Debbie Olds and Roy RN. The final Saturday section was Rally Novice, with first place going to Heidi Marshall and Skye Diamond and second place to Tanya Martyn and Sundora Skyes the Limit.

At each September Trial, the Arthur Smith Memorial Trophy for the member of the Club achieving the best results in local trials is presented. This year, the joint winners were Laura Pinnuck with Lunaa and Megan Enright with Drax.

The result was added to the Perpetual Trophy and the two members were awarded medallions to mark the occasion.

On Saturday night at the 60th Anniversary Dinner three Life Memberships were awarded to Beverley Martyn, Sidney Siddall and Dylan Stone. After dinner, Club President Pam Smith cut the Anniversary cake made and decorated by Beverley.

On Sunday morning, the second trials began again with Obedience. There were no passes in Utility Excellent, Utility or Open.

Novice was won by Tanya Martyn and Baradav Kindred Spirit (AI) CCD RA TKS who also gained the Highest Qualifying Score.

Community Companion Dog section was won by Jenny Walters and Duoforza Quinto RN, with second place going to Heidi Marshall and Panderess RN and Laura Pinnuck with Mustabooblue Lunaa RN third. Mrs Debbie Olds and Roy RN also gained a pass.

Rally began after lunch with no passes in Rally Masters. The final section was Novice, won by Mrs Debbie Olds and Fibberfox, with second place going to Heidi Marshall and Skye Diamond, while Tanya Martyn and Sundora Skyes the Limit took third place.

The Club thanked major sponsors Blackhawk Master Breeders, and additional sponsors Eye Envy, Broken Hill Community Credit Union and Broken Hill Demo Club, as well as the generous donation of cash prizes for class winners and Highest Qualifying Score.

They also thanked judge Mr MacDonald, plus the Stewards, Time Keeper, canteen helpers, donors of food and those who helped set-up and pack-up for the Trials.

The Broken Hill All Breeds Obedience Dog Club holds training classes as the AJ Keast Park, Gypsum St with registration at 6pm on Sundays. Dogs who have been fully vaccinated and are at least 12 weeks old are welcome to begin training. Proof of vaccination is required.
