After a short break for Christmas and the New Year, the sixth round of the Broken Hill 8-Ball Summer League was played last Thursday at the Rising Sun Hotel.

The Jokers defeated the Hotballs 10-6, with Alex Graham and Adrian Winter named as best players, and the same score was recorded in the Demons’ defeat against the Nic Nacs, with Glenn Williams and Malakai Durbidge listed as best players.

Unfortunately, the Breakaways forfeited their game against the Pool Warriors.

Adrian Winter was named the overall player of the week.

As of Thursday, the Demons are top of the ladder 23-61, with the Jokers following closely 21-58, and the Pool Warriors sitting at 18-51.

The Hotballs trail in fourth place 12-43, followed by the Nic Nacs on 8-38, and the Breakaways with 6-30.

At the Silver City Workingmens Club, a members-only scotch doubles 8-ball competition was held on Thursday for cash prizes.

In the elimination round, Dylan and Danny defeated Kim and Cath 2-0, with the same score recorded with Eric and Craig’s defeat of Jason and Clem.

From there, Dylan and Danny defeated Luke and Ian 2-0, with the same score reflected in Steve and Roey’s defeat against Wok and Ronald.

Eric and Craig continued their winning streak against Thomas and Sol 2-0, while Kyle and Shaun made it through via a bye.

In the semi-finals, Dylan and Danny remained undefeated in their 2-0 win against Steve and Roey, while Kyle and Shaun defeated Eric and Craig 2-0 as well.

In an entertaining grand final, it was Kyle and Shaun’s day, defeating Dylan and Danny 3-1 to secure the title.

An 8-Ball knockout competition was also held on Sunday afternoon at the Workies Club for club voucher prizes.

In the elimination round, Danny, Damo, Wok, Brian, Harold, Steve, Brad, and Thomas won their respective games, while Dylan, Nick, Eric, Craig, Ronny, Terry, Rosco, and Wayne went straight through to the first round.

From there, Danny, Damo, Wok, Craig, Harold, Steve, Rosco, and Wayne won their round one games.

In the second round, Danny defeated Damo 2-0, with the same score reflected in Steve’s defeat against Harold, and Rosco’s defeat of Wayne. Wok defeated Craig in a closer match, winning 2-1.

In the semi-finals, Wok defeated Danny in a close 2-1 contest, while Rosco defeated Steve in a similarly close contest, also registering a score of 2-1.

Ultimately, it was Wok who took out the championship 2-1 against Rosco, after a hard-fought contest.
