2DRY celebrates IDPwD

Local community radio station 2DRY FM is recognising International Day of People with Disabilities with DJ Lachlann hosting a special program on Sunday, December 3 from 9am-12pm.

As well as song requests, song dedications and shout-outs, the live in-studio broadcast will feature interviews with 2DRY FM’s DJ Barry (Adrian Eckert), Caryn Ferguson from Disability Advocacy NSW, Michael McKee from Social Futures, and 2000 Olympics archer John Marshall, with special mentions from others in the community.

“This particular broadcast is about shining a light on people with a disability to raise awareness. The real aim of it is to let people know and help remove the barriers people with disabilities face on a daily basis. It’s also showing that disability is also a strength,” Lachie Kent-Johnston, who has Cone Dystrophy and Aspergers, told the Barrier Truth.

“[2DRY FM] helps me gain confidence [and] gain skills, just putting my voice out to the public to show people with a disability that they can do anything like the same as everybody else. I just want people with disability to be included in everyday life and society [and] have equal opportunity.”

Station Manager Megan Williams added, “2DRY FM is proud to be recognising the International Day of People with Disabilities with this special broadcast. 2DRY FM would not be what it is without our volunteers, many of whom live with disabilities whether we are aware of it or not”.

To listen to this special programming in recognition of International Day of People with Disabilities on 2DRY FM, tune into 107.7 in Broken Hill or 99.7 FM in Menindee on Sunday, December 3 from 9am-12pm ACDT.
